The Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers are probably the most wanted dog among breeders and dog lovers everywhere. They are the most sought-after breed because they are good companions, excellent hunting dogs, show dogs and have a good obedience trait to them. Having a Golden Retriever is as good as having a friend because your days will be filled with fun and love for them.
Golden Retrievers make good pets because they are calm, well mannered and extremely affectionate to be with. Like all dogs, Golden’s are easy to train and they have a high level of intelligence. They make good companions not only because of this sense of affection to their owners but they are equally loyal and lovable. Golden’s are at ease with children and they are good watchdogs as well. Though friendly, Golden’s are aware of who strangers are and who are not.
Fur shedding among Golden Retrievers is a natural process. Golden Retrievers are said to shed fur all year round with more shedding especially during the spring. Golden Retrievers take to the water like ducks to the pond. So if you are near the beach of have a pool, your retriever will definitely take a dip in it almost all the time.
Being an affectionate dog, Golden Retrievers crave attention from their owners. So if you are constantly on the go, keeping a retriever as a pet would do no good to it. Being loyal, Golden Retrievers always enjoy your company and will surely miss you when you leave them at home for long periods. It is not far to the dog and shouldn’t be treated this way, unless of course you have other family members at home to look after the retriever and give it the attention it needs.
Golden Retrievers are best taken into your care when they are pups. At least, in this way, you can train and educate your retriever with the essential skills and tricks needed. Teaching your puppy when it is younger is much better compared to teaching him when it is older. As you teach and speak to your dog, eventually, it will know its daily routine, what is allowed and what is not allowed at your home- in other words, you teach your dog how to behave. If you do not have the time to train your dog, you can always send it to a trainer or dog obedience school.
Golden Retrievers are excellent companions, loyal, trustworthy and friendly. If you are an outdoor person, taking your Golden Retriever with you on hikes, jogs and even swimming would not be a problem. Not only will you get the exercise you need, but so would your retriever. Do not hesitate in including your Golden Retriever in family activities as family bonding will strengthen with a common element which is love.
